First Practical Assignment

For this assignment, you are NOT to use rulers, tape measures, or artificial measuring devices--only natural measures such as your own height, step, span, etc. You must work from the actual building or site, not from maps. DO NOT USE THE ALL SAINTS' BROCHURE ON THE CHAPEL.

You can work with someone else, but on your worksheet list the person(s) you worked with. Each person must turn in a separate sheet.

1. Draw the floor plan of All Saints' Chapel. What are the dimensions of the Nave? the Narthex? What is the length of the main axis of the nave from the high altar to the front door? What is the height of the nave ceiling--floor to top arch? What are the dimensions of St. Augustine's Chapel? Of the War memorial Chapel?
2. What are the dimensions of the Quad? What is the acreage of the Quad?
3. What is the acreage of the University Cemetery? Include a quotation-- "a verse" --from a gravestone.
4. Draw the floor plan of Otey Memorial Church. What are the dimensions of its nave? How many people will its nave hold? How many seats are there in its "choir"?
