In the traditional measure of course work, it was assumed that there were two hours of outside
preparation for each hour of class work:
In a class meeting for 42 classes, then:
      42 classes or 42 hours
42 x 2 hours of outside work or 84 hours, or
126 total hours of work for a one-semester course.
For Religion 393, the figures are these:
29 classes [Mondays and Wednesdays, not Fridays]*
12 field work sessions @ three hours each=36 hours
      41x1 hour of preparation=41 [1 hour/class; 1 hour/lab]
      29+36+41=106
20 hours for outside project [approximate, not more]
Total: 29+36+41+20=126 hours of work for the course.
Hence, there is no lab on Thursday, August 27 [first day of classes] or on December 3. There will be12 fieldwork days.
*The total of 29 class sessions may be reduced slightly because of administrative duties of the instructor.
